Tell me a little about your background?
My prior position was in business to business insurance sales.
Why were you interested in Medical Sales? What drew you to this industry?
My father was in an accident where devices were vital in his recovery and I knew then that this is what I wanted to do.
How long did you try to get into the industry? What was that experience like?
How did you learn about Medical Sales College?
I found MSC on LinkedIn, and followed the countless placements over a few years before I reached out.
What ultimately made you decide to attend the College?
I was getting nowhere with my own attempts to enter the industry and I continued to see students get placed via MSC.
Describe your experience once you began training with Medical Sales College.
The training at MSC was very thorough and, as I have found out since graduating, very applicable to the hiring process. I didn’t understand exactly how prepared I was until I was in the interview arena.
What is your current job like?
My current job is fast-paced and I LOVE IT! I cover a 3-state territory and call on surgeons, nurses and administrators. I provide in services and product evaluations. MSC prepared me to have meaningful interaction with all.
What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?
Simply put, understanding the culture of the industry and having the base knowledge to communicate within that culture. I felt like I was interviewing as an insider rather than a newcomer.
Please briefly explain your job interview process.
I was contacted by 3 companies for positions I didn’t apply for, and additional ones for positions I did apply for. Most companies started with a phone interview and then 2-4 in person interviews. It is vital that you have a process to manage the interviews as there are many moving parts. MSC definitely prepared me for this process, I had everything I needed to approach it with confidence.
Why should someone attend the Medical Sales College if they want this career?
MSC prepares you for many aspects of the process from application to training. Something that was understated is how MSC prepares you for the training in your ultimate position. MSC will teach you how to learn.
What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?
How much I didn’t know. The information I acquired at MSC allowed me to not only open the employment doors I was seeking, but to walk through them confidently. After my training at MSC, I went from not being able to get a call back, to being a sought after candidate that ultimately was able to chose between 3 positions offered to me.
